DIGITAL MONOLITH
at the intersection of art, architecture, and technology.
The Digital Monolith is a large-scale art installation by artist and innovator Christof Babinsky, developed in collaboration with ASB Architectural.
Inspired by 2001: A Space Odyssey, the work reimagines the iconic monolith as a contemporary object – both timeless and forward-looking.
At first glance, the installation presents itself as a minimalist black structure: a striking, five-metre-high glass form of quiet presence and precision.
Beneath its restrained exterior lies advanced ASB DigitalWallpaper LED technology, seamlessly integrated behind deeply etched safety glass.
This hidden layer transforms the monolith into a dynamic medium, capable of subtle illumination and immersive visual expression.
Functioning simultaneously as symbol and stage, the Digital Monolith creates a dialogue between past, present and future. It invites reflection on technological evolution, perception and the role of digital media within physical space.
